Well, one could say that a person who obeys the dictates of God even when they conflict with societal norms is a better person that the one who follows all societal norms but disobeys God.

Here's a question that may get us to the heart of the issue.

An infant is born.

Is that infant already imbued with any sense of right and wrong, moral and immoral behaviors?

Or is that infant purely a blank slate on which all sense of right and wrong, moral and immoral behaviors will be imposed by his social environment?

And if the former, where does the sense of right and wrong, moral and immoral behaviors come from?
