Explain to me how a repressive society functions well.

A large number of Russians, after their experience with capitalism, longed and voted for the return of communist rule. Apparently they preferred what we consider a repressive society to what we consider a free society.

Not to mention that the repressive society beat us in putting a man in space. Worked pretty well on that occasion.

I consider the Roman civilization to have been repressive, it functioned for a long time. Repression works great- transitions from repression do not work very well. (IMO)
