I have a hard time buying that argument. First, since Afghanistan is land locked, they would have had to conquer both Afghanistan and Pakistan to get to the Indian Ocean. I can't imagine the world sitting back and watching both countries go under the USSR flag.

This go back to your lack of understanding history. It is the fact that the world went slowly under the USSF flag from 1945 to 1980. Then someone started the reversal. But you are in a denial about this part of history.

If you are trying to tell me that a second rate actor was responsible for the collapse of the USSR, then you need to tell me how he pulled that one off. Frankly, I think you've been spending too much time in the NYC subways but look forward to your answer.

Secondly, through the Black Sea, they did have access to the Mediterranean and then onto the Suez Canal and the Indian Ocean. I find it hard to believe that for a few extra hours off their travel time they fought a war for Afghanistan for almost 15 years.

In an event of conflict, Turkey with support of NATO would close down the Black See access. And Egypt would do the same.

So they were trying to get to Pakistan through Afghanistan so that they could get a port right on the Indian Ocean.....is that right? Neither their warm water port on the Black Sea nor the one on the Pacific would do.....is that correct?
