Can you imagine the brouhaha if the Yankees tried to add a pitcher to their post-season team after the deadline for roster additions had passed? No one would stand for that. Ashcroft lost to a dead guy. And I think a dead woman is still "running" for Congress. Why is having a name on a ballot, of someone who quit, any different than someone who is already dead?
