<That's fine, but the idea that they were jsut some saintly ascetics could be wrong....>

Of course... who is???? That's the point... the Man says... "I'm nobody special"... and that upsets JHP, he wanted to see a picture of someone walking on water. The entire argument isn't about religions being 'more saintly' or 'more special'... it's been about those who think they are MORE EVIL than the rest. As if all religion is below those who 'know better'... when in reality they don't know religion from a rats ass.

Think of the implication of the belief that religious people are necessarily misled fools, somehow inferior.

Sounds familiar.... what's the difference between that belief and the bigot? There is no scientific proof that there is no god. There is no scientific proof that any one religion is more or less evil... or even that non religious people are less violent or have 'better thoughts' than religious people. The whole concept is simply what's on our hard drives from our upbringing and the politics, news, etc at the time.

<I'm still not clear what you mean>

It appears to me that turf wars, politics, wars, institutional medling, etc. has distorted Christianity more than the eastern religions.... but that's what it looks like to me, although raised Christian, I'm not a 'religious' person.
