Darren, It is not, really, so much the fault of GHW Bush. He was bound by an agreement with the alliance of nations that fought the Gulf War. I agree that being part of an alliance is not a good idea for fighting a war. To get the job done, properly, there should only be one major commander of the troops, who reports to only one head of government. With an alliance, you have war waged by a committee. We all know about the ineffectiveness of committees. After all, a camel is a horse designed by a committee.

George Bush Sr., for what ever reason he capitulated, blew it.

At the time, the decision could have gone either way. IMO, he took the advice of our Arab allies very seriously.

Saddam has duped everyone.
