No the lack of a world police force does not justify doing whatever we want, but it does justify us acting as a police force where it may be important to do so. It justifies us dealing with dangerous threats and enforcing terms of the ceasefire agreement with Iraq because there is no world government to turn to solve the dispute.

Of course that raises the question is Iraq a dangerous threat. I wasn't really addressing that in my post, merely asserting that if it is we have every right to deal with the situation ourselves.
