Most of the countries in the middle East would love to incinerate Israel. Syria is probably ahead of Iraq in that regard. And as far as brutality, Syria may be ahead there too. The rational we are using on Iraq could be used on any number of countries.

They are not nice things.

But they are not reason for a country ten thousand miles away to declare war on them.

And I'm not sure there is more brutality in Iraq than there is in many other places -- Somalia, Central Africa, Chechyna, among others.

It's just that Iraq has oil that we want. And sits near oil routes. And the countries it threatens are ones we like instead of ones we don't care about.
