Even assuming something less lurid, as a person whose stock in trade was love potions to make a man forget his wife and cleave to his mistress; or amulets to make a man win at dice consistently (a virtual cheat); or charms to harm ones enemies, even unto death; or spells to dim the reason and force people to one's bidding; or incantations to set loose creatures of the underworld to help one in mischief; then a witch would necessarily be a dangerous and criminal creature, would she not?

Are you advocating witch trials or is this a cry for help?

i don't think you probably got that description of a witch from anyone calling themself a witch. Remember history is always written by the winners, and people who believe in the old religions, or witchraft, have definitely lost the battle. But to be fair, you need to realize that you are probably dealing in propaganda with that post.
