I see this Security Council/Congress effort as good manners. I agree, and a good politician has good manners to start with, not on retrospect after the entire world has condemned him for his unnecessary go-alone from the start attittude. He needed to construct a carefully worded legal case to the American people and the world. He's failed to do so. The American people agree that Iraq is a threat, they agree that armed action needs to be taken, but they have not yet bought the case for unilateral action (did you see 60 minutes? Andy Rooney no less pleaded for the president not to do it alone).
