Tim, please forgive me for not going enthusiastically down that garden path with you. I'm totally zonked from all the posting today. The point of that post of mine was solely to contradict Neo's notion that self interest can only be about oneself. I don't see any reason why trading one's life for one's child's life cannot be on one's best interest. I think one could die willingly knowing that one's offspring survives, particularly if there are not yet grandchildren or if one is old or infirm.
