E, in Win98 you can START>RUN>msconfig and choose the startup tab. There you'll probably find the Real Networks Event Launcher listed. Uncheck it. Or, open RN and see if it is a choice. You don't want it.

To Anyone:

I recently got a critical update message from Microsoft to install their SP1 update package for IE 6.0. Is this worth the trouble? Everything seems to be working fine and as they say if it ain't broke....I am using Win 98SE on a Dell T600 with 512 of RAM.

TIA

jon

E

Popups get more devious and harder to close all the time. It's a constant battle. By the way....an easier way to close the current IE window...ctrl + W

hi E

"Also: NoAds is not doing what it used to to cut down on popups. I think they've gotten clever and change the headings a little each time."

Lost1's post reminded me of this question of yours. maybe it's time for a NoAds update. most recent version is NoAds 2002.11.05 southbaypc.com

select the Upgrade your old version option

to repeat, a good rule of thumb is to keep whatever program you decide to use well updated. doing so will go a long way towards alleviating this feeling....

"Are others finding that they['re getting more and more popups?"

good luck

:)
