I accept your point that European idealism does not seem to be uniform about all the conflicts on earth. However, I was not saying it is. My point is that it would be unthinkable for most Europeans (and political suicide for European politicians) for a European politician to side with another country whose actions were not in line with their own, on the grounds of cultural proximity.
