Stepping deeper into the morass here as we go down 183. Sox weakens too. We may be looking at a real ugly end of day or a reversal. The former looks like a better bet to me now. Mike

Another great chart G. I know you realize that these prolonged periods of fearfulness make it more difficult for the VIX to truly spike tremendously higher. It could still happen but it is easier when most everyone is complacent like they were in October of 1987:
