Perception problem, maybe. Both sides had received arms from their sponsors for years. The Arabs apparently (as far as we know) had sufficient stock to successfully fight at least a short war. THe Israelis did not. The Israelis came back from the initial disadvantage of having suffered a surprise attack and were driving the Arabs back. And started running out of supplies. And started losing and being driven back.

At this point the US suddenly showers the Israelis with the military supplies they need.

The appearance is that the US intervened on the side of the Israelis and enabled them not only to avert defeat but to defeat the Arabs.
