From all I can find numismatic rare museum grade & bullion markets are almost fully unique & separate. Sure, there is a some degree of contact / crossover between specimen grade nugget wire & flake like examples but there are indications this is an inverse relationship because as price is extended mines / miners have less time to look at the individual rock. Of the chart reading, I won't try to argue either side of the equation. I doubt, though, the often heralded and loudly trumpeted capitulation sell-off on the broad equity indices is not that which we currently see in play. IMO this is Mutual Fund tax loss selling which won't be done until post 10/15. This current wave of equity selling may result in yet more redemptions by frightened or hurting individuals taking us lower well into November. Tax loss selling by individuals could then follow through year end with each ugly 5 day cycle leading to yet another even more ugly 4-5 day downward cycle. Now, after year end, we can get another look, but I'm not broadly bullish on any form of investment in the short term. We have entered a bubble in US bonds & in SELECTED real estate markets. If we have learned anything, we have learned the herd mentality in this current group of (cough cough gag gag)"investors " is the single greatest driving factor and every bubble becomes far more inflated than any dare imagine. At some point this wild herd of "investor" will come the rest of the way to the precious metals market then it too will be - GADS Woosh also beyond belief -- and the stage is being set. The mining firms are killing hedge books in major waves - in fact in waves so great that this unwinding impacts the market & (some say)distorts chart reading attempts. oh, btw, welcome back to Hell.
