Sorry to touch on something late in the game, but I was just seeing what I missed. I said nothing about a duty to intervene beyond mentioning that parents and teachers have particular responsibilities. Later, I said that if I knew how to alter black culture to encourage a more positive attitude towards education, I would, but it is a big if.....there is something faulty with your general sense of what I have been saying........Most duties are merely a matter of one's own conscience, together with the reaction of people who may be let down or on intimate terms with you. Very few are a matter of government enforcement or anything like organized social pressure......
