My first thought: The CIA's assessments and warnings have proven to be so bad in the past that "cooked" reports could prove to be better than raw ones. :-)

I'm not surprised by this. The Admin just doesn't seem to have the facts to back the case it wants to make. If it did, it would already have presented them and only a fringe would still be opposed to taking action. And we'd have a UN resolution.

I think, though maybe you're right that at this point it would be political suicide to be hard on Israel.
This is going to have to change. And, given the current US political structure, I don't see that happening. As long as politicians are for sale, this won't change. And we will continue to be viewed as biased in the ME. Which we are.
