I didn't know that.

I don't think it'd be a woman in a station wagon with kids in the back though. Doesn't a sniper set up camp and wait until a target walks within range?

Snipers are an infantry asset - a male-only CMF/MOS - usually at the battalion level. And despite the fact that women can become artillery officers in certain types of batteries, the only such jobs in which they'd become sniper-like (not, as such, snipers) - are as forward observers: which, like any infantry positions, are not open to them.
