The greatest benefit of even a small dividend of, say $0.08 per quarter, or roughly 1 percent yield, would be the impact on many pension funds that are prohibited in their charters from investing in any stocks that pay no dividend. When Intel began paying dividends around 1991, the stock soared for that reason alone.
