I don't know where that fits in. Maybe its another topic so I'll let it go, unless you want to start another topic, that is. I'd be game for that.

When putting forth the idea, is your aim to move the ball in a direction you favor? Then you think you have an insight into what is better behavior, and therefore are not merely speaking for yourself in approving some things over others. And no one thinks you are, either.

I'm not sure where you're coming from but I'll take a stab at it anyway. When I put forth an idea, like self interest as an alternative to traditional morality, I do so because writing it down and getting feedback helps clarify my thinking and tests my idea and because it might resonate with someone who's reading it or be enlightening or useful to them in some other way. The only time I post in an effort to move the ball is when posting about thread hygiene, where I have an interest in the direction the ball is moving. I hope that helps.
