Hi KLP,

That's a great question about narcissistic personality disorder. The shooter will almost certainly be diagnosed as having it if he's caught alive.

The tricky thing is that it's very likely combined with some type of rage disorder, because most people with just narcissistic personality disorder are so self-involved, they wouldn't be able to plan something like this.

There are lots of people with narcissistic qualities, but someone with full-blown NPD thinks the world has treated him/her unfairly and owes him/her much more. Narcissists tend to be talkers, and I'd think s/he's given intimates hints of the success of the "mission".

What can professionals do to use this info to catch him? They can do two things: public sneering, in hopes that he'll get into an "I'll show them who's boss" frenzy and make a mistake

Or they can appeal to his narcissism in a positive way, publicly complimenting him on a job well done (in terms of his planning and accuracy) in hopes to calm him down so they can move in on him if they have him in their sights as a suspect.

All this is obviously JMHO.

It's nice to see you. I've been following your contributions on the FADG.
