COT's are fascinating today, Commercials got shorter the SPOOS, and were net unchanged on the NDX as of Wednesday (bet they covered some since then...). 2 other interesting trends...they were getting longer nearly all of the major currencies (ie, shorting the dollar). And they were covering silver for the first time in what seems like months and also longer gold.

patron - Good one -- did you take note of the fine print that says if you default in any way, shape or form (e.g. somebody somehow effs up and they get a payment one day late), the rate zooms to the nosebleed category and/or the whole line becomes immediately due and payable.

I like to call this the "Venus flytrap" clause, no further explanation required.

Not that you couldn't handle it, but it should be in the back of your mind because of what a pain in the arse it could be

I can't get a home equity credit line because I paid off my mortgage. Obviously I am not a normal person. I did look into it once and they wanted to appraise the house, asked if I had flood insurance, wanted me to pay a fee of several hundred dollars, etc. They must think that if you don't owe money, your property is not worth anything -G-.

So the best I can do is an unsecured credit line of about $30,000 at 5%. I don't use it, but hey! You have to look as if you MIGHT borrow money. That way all my banking services, including a safe deposit box, are free.

had a similar experience several months ago when i got my line with my local super-regional money center (you shouldn't have to think too hard about who that is). i applied on the Web site. asked me how much my home was worth. oh, let's see, how about $1.1 million? appraiser CALLS me the next day. how many bedrooms do you have? 3. oh yeah, i just spent $60k on my kitchen. valuation approved. i coulda been living down by the river in a refrigerator box w/ Luc and they wouldn't have known the difference.

crazy.

Cheers
