ep, I see what you say and I agree.

But we are talking about the late 1970s not the 1990s. There was risk of thermonuclear war initiated by Jimmy Carter due to Afghanistan, and that is that. We had to stop the Soviets.

The Soviets would have won easily in Afghanistan without our stinger missiles that we provided and trained bin laden and the Mujehadin with. And thank goodness we did.
