It's amazing that we'd even have this discussion in a 21st Century so-called "advanced" nation, that so little accountability exists that the powers that be can successfully keep the taxpayers in the dark about 1/2 trillion dollars here and there ...

Do you know what the increase is due to? I checked and determined the reason a while ago. I would have guessed it's nickel and dime accumulations, i.e., $5B here, $10B there. BMD, replenishing munitions stockpiles, having three advanced fighter programs, etc. Leasing transport aircraft from Beoing rather than buying them lowers the one year cost but increases the life-cylce costs substantially. Big pumps in intelligence spending. But I have a feeling you've found something different. Shoot. jttmab
