That culture of violence will not end until we give up the notions that guns can successfully coexist with us.

The culture of violence exists (to the extent it exists at all which perhaps has been somewhat exagerated) with or without the guns. Guns however give people a chance to defend themselves.

Its been proven over and over that less guns in a society leads to less killings, less maiming and less crime.

This has not been proven once much less over and over again.

People who hold on to the need for guns are like the smoker of today who holds onto his cigarettes...........they are holding onto something that could very well kill them.

Cigarettes don't hurt you if you don't smoke them. Guns don't kill you if you are not irresponsible with them. Most gun owners are responsible.

And just like the non smoker who inhales the smoker's smoke, the need of the gun advocate may end up killing one of the rest of us.

Cigarette smoke can only be harmful. Guns can and do stop and deter many crimes.

This culture of violence....this need for guns puts us not much above the level of barbarians.

The normal responsible gun owner isn't the barbarian. The criminal is the barbarian.
