You are obviously using the word more broadly than I. I'm trying to pin down your usage. If we are to communicate, you either have to adopt my usage or help me to understand yours so we can use it.

So what is there that goes on prior to death that does not meet this definition? Praying, I suppose. Although that can contribute to worldly success, it might not be the primary motive. Altruistic actions would be another. I'm running out of ideas. Is there anything else? Virtually everything we do has an element of self interest. Even wanting to please God has an element of self interest.
