My cousin's husband told me a bizarre story regarding a DELL they bought a few years ago. They bought a Pentium (not sure which one) and the way he explained it was that there is some kind of a seal that DELL puts on its' computers and you can't break the seal in the back if you want to keep the warranty (I never heard of this, but I have never owned a DELL). Anyway, after his warranty ran out he decided to make some upgrades and he opened the back and found out that the chip was really a Celeron, not a Pentium, even though the bios when the computer started up says it was a Pentium. Could this be possible? Could they actually use a cheaper chip but have the bios say it something else? He claims that they sold him a Pentium but put a Celeron chip inside and got around it by not allowing the customer to open the back because it would compromise the warranty - story sounds fishy, but he's a pretty honest guy and don't know why he would make this up.

I would double the ram on that one, otherwise cool. I like the wireless keyboard and mouse. I've been thinking about a wireless mouse as the cord is a minor irritation all day that I could do without.

That 4550 is a slight generation bump from the 4500S I believe. The 4500S comes with a 15" monitor and if you delete the monitor, you are down around $500, at least the last time I looked. The monitor is cheap but 15" is kind of useless for trading, especially when you can get a 17 or a 19 for so little $. Also it seems I've heard a few people say they'd rather have XP Pro than home.

The trick with Dell is to watch the site regularly for special sales. This isn't the best time of year with back to school and Christmas happening. January is when they get really hungry <g>.
