I don't buy into all this over-analytical psychological stuff. In other words, I don't see this guy charting his victims and the times he will strike. It's really just a hunting trip. When the mood and opportunity arise, he gets in his car, tools around a few areas which are familiar to him, identifies someone who is easy prey, takes his shot, and hightails it out of there. Simple as that.

It was a Ford Bronco, wasn't it? BUT it was white!

The sniper is in the media's back yard, so of course they are afraid. Those of us who live in "fly over country" are merely observers.

There isn't a thing we can do, or watch for, so we watch TV to get the latest updates and shake our heads.

Contrary to the author of the article posted, Re: "the national news outlets can't make the case that a viewer in, say, Los Angeles might help capture a killer 3,000 miles away," I'd say they can easily make such a case. This is a well traveled part of the country, where people come and go from distant places in substantial numbers.
