I think if this was an al-Qaeda plan, we'd have more than one area of the nation affected. I'm surprised that political terrorists have not shot up a restaurant or blown up a car bomb in this country in the last 13 months. That's pretty low-tech and easy to plan, and it wouldn't even have to be a suicide mission. Could it be there are less potential terrorist threats living in this country than we feared? If this shooter is a political terrorist, he's not getting his message out effectively. He's perhaps inadvertently helping the Bush administration by diverting potential press coverage of the failing economy.
