That rally was fun while it lasted...

Ahhh... the old "too much too soon" rally... *sigh* Overall the numbers weren't terrible... but they weren't great either. Revenue was $6.5B which is smack in the middle of the guidance, so that's a positive... Units sold was higher across the board (so much for those "market share gain" claims from AMD), but ASP appears to have suffered a bit as did GM.

I saw some mention of "excess capacity" in the report as well. I wish there had been a bit more granularity to that statement... is the"excess capacity" for the older technologies? For the newer technologies? Across the board? I expect some pointed questions when the Q&A session starts...

John, the Intel numbers came in as expected, for the most part. Problem is, Intel made top-line, but slightly missed bottom-line (which will get all the negative headlines). I like the fact that Intel said their CPU mkt. share was at a 4-year high! (i'm glad i still own my AMD puts). 4QTR outlook seems to be as expected (0 to 6+% sequential increase range, with mean of 3%). Not bad, but not great.
