OTOT Drugs are outlawed, yet I can get almost any drug within 15 minutes. Don't you think that the same would be true for guns if they are outlawed no, i think there is a difference. e.g., drugs and guns are outlawed in Europe, but it is much easier to get drugs than guns. obviously, there would be a certain amount of contraband, but outlawing guns would probably save at least 30,000 to 50,000 lives a year in the US. this is due to what criminologists call the "instrumentality effect". i.e., guns are much more lethal than other weapons (knives, hands, table lamps [if you are Hillary Clinton]), so their presence is conducive to more death, other things being equal. for criminologists, it's self-evident that many lives could be saved by outlawing guns. however, the political reality is that people in this country have their love of guns, which all politicians respect, so they want to keep them no matter how many people die.
