Frankly, Sharon would consider either result a success -- either an open enemy or a pragmatic regime would be an improvement over a fake "peace partner" bent on war. As it appears now, the likelihood is a split, Gaza to Hamas and the West Bank to some Fatah militia.

I'm much less interested in whether Sharon dubs it a success, most likely he will attempt to dub any outcome a "success," than in whether it increases the chances for a long term two state solution. As always, you and I differ on the meaning of things. We'll see what the future portends.
