"but it's soooo nice crackling away."

Yep! I can hear it!

BTW, E--I finally did the hang-gliding! and boy! That was like chopping wood for about 500 years...<g> GREAT experience!

The tandem glider comes off the runway in only 2 or 3 seconds, followed by the ultra-light tow plane lifting 2 or 3 seconds later. And there you are: suspended horizontally in a harness--every bit like a huge bird; and then it is onward and UPWAAAAARRRD riding the wind to the top of the world.

You search for interesting thermals for a bit, and then you release from the tow; and there you are, alone in the sky--suspended in a harness beneath a huge wing--pulsing between incredible strength and power...and an intense fragility, vulnerability, and insignificance.

When the chaotic winds catch and toss you, and the meter beeps rapidly to indicate a rapid climb...you feel as though you are in the grasp of a capricious and all powerful nature. Then later when you dive and bring it back over the top you are reminded that man continues to harness and tame his world--as he has done since first commanding the horse to his servant.

Then the swoop down, and the tumultous rush over the grass...and touchdown...

Any age can do it (the instructor does all the work...you just hang on tight and keep your voice confident and jaunty!<g>). I recommend it to all...
