OK, too bad for me. Almost everyone who has ever read the novel knows it is the Catholic Church in some form. Since there is no way to prove the invalidity of the continuity, it must be considered the Church down one imagined time line, as I phrased it. There is a Pope and a New Rome, there is a Devil's Advocate to examine the case for canonization, there are the various prayers of monastic life, etc. I dislike arguments over the obvious, so I am prepared to let you have the last word. I should go anyway.
