There was a thread started some time back regarding bias in the media, but I cannot find it in a search. I did find another thread on bias and linked it below.

Bias exists, and we all carry our share. It is of course perspective and what one believes to be the difference between right and wrong. What beliefs one is taught in their youth. IMO individuals like Ray and Emile provoke moderated threads rather than any left wing political thought. In fact there are several people that love to argue politics. I personally don't spend much time on other threads discussing politics.

Gullible people, therefore, are sucked in thinking that if it's print it must be true particularly if it agrees with their own logic or beliefs.

Politically, that certainly works both ways. Humans, by nature, are pretty much sheep. I firmly believe that the Internet will create an unprecedented phenomenon where studies of the human brain will show that our ability to expand our thinking to never before achieved dimensions will multiply quicker for those exposed to the vast amounts of information available on line. How this will affect politics is unknown. I can only say from personal experience that because of my exposure to the WWW, I am better able to define my own beliefs political or otherwise. Unfortunately I don't believe that most news sources do verify their stories from 2nd and 3rd sources before publication as they should. I see examples of dis-information all the time.

I would love to see other countries, but for the sake of my family I have decided to do my traveling in the northwestern hemisphere for now. I am contemplating a trans Atlantic crossing to Portugal, Spain, France and Italy next spring, but world events will dictate whether I take that trip or not. I don't think I want to be overseas during a war. Yes! I would love to see Scandinavia, the home of my ancestors.

The young man in question has the right to dally in his youth. For what better time to take advantage of the carefree life than in our youth? I did the same thing. I just never relied on society to pay my way.
