He may not have half a brain. That one's open for speculation. I've handled a Mini 14 and it would be no problem to sit in the passenger seat of a van, roll down the window at an opportune moment and flip this weapon up for a shot. This would be awkward with a long gun. The guy could even roll the window half way down and use it as a rest. My idea is, if he never gets out of the van, they make a much quicker getaway and this seems to be the hallmark of their escaping.
