I don't understand your analogy about Lucy and Charlie Brown. However, BB says: Folks need to get real clear about this, because once he sets off the fire in the Iraqi desert or Tel Aviv - the world as we know it is finished and let me add to that, folks need to get real clear that CIA director Tenet says Iraq doesn't have nuclear weapons, but if we attack them, they sure as heck will fight back and THEN BB's conclusion "the world as we know it is finished" will be correct.

Nadine,

And I bet you always believed that this time Lucy would really let Charlie Brown kick that football, didn't you?

Of course every liberal fervently believes that diplomacy alone will work. This goes with the assumption that the other side thinks and hold values just like we do.

No allowance is given for dealing with the insane or even the simply different.

However, we cannot always assume the worst, we just need to prepare for it.

John

defectors are the best window we have into this one-man autocracy

My God, Nadine, what does it take to convince some people? The only way UNSCOM even began to unravel Saddams bioweapons program was when Hussein Kamel defected to Jordan and told UNSCOM were to find the documents at his "chicken farm." This is not even disputable. Until Kamel defected and "spilled the beans," Saddam was still denying he even had a bioweapons program. Sattelites just didn't cut the mustard or even lick the jar in finding this stuff. BTW Kamel is the guy that really "fast forwarded" Saddams bomb project and forced Hamza into procuring the necessary technology and scientists from Germany, Hungary, and Russia to actually build Iraq's version of "Fat Man." The only thing they lacked in the '90's was the enriched uranium. This is what makes the Korean news that much more distressing, just another volatile potential source.

Time is running out? You bet.
