I hope no one calls you on this, the 50 cal guys blow up car engines. They don't hunt with these heavy guns. He may use a .69 or .75 front stuffer black powder muzzel loader but not the .50 machine gun bullet.

.50 cal.
I hunt moose yearly. The .50 cal. is WAY too big. It is the sign of an inexperienced hunter to be overpowered. The result of the wrong rifle is hugely damaged and wasted animal quarters. Common rifles used locally are .308, 30-06 and even old army Lee Enfield .303's which has appropriate ballistics.
