Unbelievable, thanks for the very detailed response

I'm going to print it out and keep it as a reference, with all the nice links you included.

So do you surmise that Friday morning the fed ("the Invisible Hand?") was trying to tell us that the rally was getting a little overheated so they attempted to cool it down by throwing a little cold water on it after Thursday's AH runup? I wonder why else a positive close, positive AH, and no extraordinary news from overseas would lead to futures being down as they were on Friday morning.

Of course, the cynical amongst us think that "using this cash in a manner intended to ensure that the market functions in a manner consistent with the Feds objectives" means guaranteeing that the transfer of wealth scheme works without any obstruction....
