Husbands, estranged/divorced husbands, dates, neighbors, fellow co-workers, etc. It's the people that you and wife know that are most likely to rape your wife. Think about that the next time you invite a male friend over to the house. Everytime your wife sees someone she knows, that's the time to get the gun out! "Men the woman knows" does equate to someone that the woman sees all the time who acts all nice and peaceful and then out of the blue jumps on her and rapes her. Some of them are but even in those cases having a gun gives the woman more options. Also the 1/5th (assuming your info is accurate) that are not by men the women know adds up to a lot of rapes. While the Governement has been "chipping away" at what you perceive are your rights under the second amendment, rapes have gone down substantially. In 1973, the rate was 2.5 rapes per thousand; in 2001 it was 0.6 per thousand. A 76% drop in rape rates. Here's the full table. Maybe because there are more guns now, and even though there are many new gun controls laws concealed carry is allowed in more states then it was in the 70s. Also in general crimes has gone down since sometime in the 80s (unfortunatly I forget exactly when) apparently mostly because of demographic reasons (the percentage of the population that was at the age where people are most likely to be active violent criminals went down). You want to know who kills women? 51% are killed by men they knew with 30% killed by their husbands, ex's or boyfriends. True a violent ex would be a good reason for a woman to carry a gun. Tim
