But really, it is so annoying when you're on line to see harried Irish-looking mothers with their little kids and frail old men with canes being pulled out of the line. It's not just annoying, I can't help feeling that it's completely insane. Yeah. But if I were al Qaeda and I saw that harried Irish-looking mothers and frail old men with canes weren't being searched, you know what I'd do? I'd find some harried Irish-looking mothers and frail old men with canes, or some people who could be made to look like them and would cooperate, and use them as terrorists. Anybody think they wouldn't, wouldn't notice, aren't smart enough, or couldn't find the right people? I don't like what you have to go through with air travel these days either. But I know I'd like being hijacked a whole lot less. (imagine running a hotel and people go off with everything that's not nailed down, even your bureau knobs) One of the duties of those people who clean the rooms is to do an inventory after you leave and see what's missing. Theses days the motels have your credit card number. Which means a scam like what was tried on you would often work. She didn't enjoy it. Of course not. You screwed up the scam. You know you've been on SI too long when you realize you've already told a story about hotel bureau knobs.... LOL!!! True. And what's worse is I can't think of anything to top it. :-)
