After finally having begun reading Pollack's book this weekend, I must actually agree with you. According to Pollack, the evidence sugests that the trip to Prague may not have even taken place. Pollack suggests that OBL is unlikely to have any terrific regard for Saddam since he is religious when it suits him. Moreover, his ambitions to control SA oil lead him directly into religious conflict with OBL. Saddam considers OBL to be (or have been) a romantic adventurer who could easily derail Saddam's plans to become the ME hegemon. This in no way changes the possibility that Saddam's thirst for revenge might, under the right circumstances, lead to a cooperative effort between AQ and Saddam that would be dangerous. It also in no way changes the fact that Saddam has previously harbored terrorists, i.e., Abu Nidal, who paid for the collaboration with his life.

I believe the intelligence services are still trying to figure out who Atta met on his mutliple trips to Damascus, however. You can quit "aha-ing" over this. The pro-war arguments in no way depend on finding operational cooperation between Iraq and Al Qaeda pre 9/11. Preventing Saddam from getting nukes is quite reason enough. That such a cooperation exists now is clear from Al Qaeda's threats to launch attacks in order to prevent an American invasion of Iraq.
