.... with all this new talk of money, extortion ...

Yeah, I was thinking that the guy wants money wired offshore to some account which will then be used to fund terrorist activities.

And of course, we say we can't do it ..... because it won't allow us to catch him and there's no guarantee that he'll stop.

If anything, if they discover they can be paid after committing murder, they'll start showing up in greater numbers.

LPS5, from what I've heard and read, the very first communication from the killer was when he shot the child-- his *ninth* victim. Why did he wait that long? Was it because he didn't think we'd take a list demands seriously until he'd killed that many? I somehow doubt it.

Seems to me if this guy was that intent on killing as a means to financially enrich himself that he'd have started leaving notes from day one. Then, if the police didn't comply, do something rash, like shoot a child.

But, I actually do think he thinks he now has a shot at making some bucks from his spree. If he was just toying with the police, I'd think he'd be content to just leave notes with all sorts of crazy demands that the only reason he'd care were met were for his entertainment. Instead, he actually has made more than one phone call and attempted to set up a dialogue. Very strange.
