Al >why we in the US practice the subtle art of keeping our system of checks and balances as perfectly checked and balanced as possible.

Here's someone who appears to be completely unbalanced, yet he wants a big check.

washingtonpost.com

Can it be possible that there is a person who will murder, and murder any number of women and children, in cold blood --- just for some money, which he may never ever get? Is money really the motive? Or is murder the motive and money the excuse? Or is it simply an attempt to terrorize the American people for another agenda altogether?

I am completely confused --- the sniper appears to be totally insane and yet he is as cool as a cucumber and absolutely deliberate about what he is doing. He is clearly well trained and not only an expert marksman but also an expert in camouflage and evading capture. Furthermore, he is brazen enough to taunt the police when he knows they are desperately trying to arrest him. He leaves notes for them but doesn't appear to leave evidence or a trail. Indeed, besides intelligence, ruthlessness and training, he has nerves of steel.

This is one very smart and very tough cookie --- in fact, I still very much doubt that it is only one cookie.
