I'm arguing that the States and the people have the right to make their own decisions when the Constitution has not given the Feds power/authority in that area, the 10th. If the voters of Alaska opt against doctor assisted suicide or medical applications of cannabis, so be it. The Feds should stay out of it.

I agree.

I'm would like to see more Democracy and less Republic in this Democractic Republic.

That isn't actually what you are arguing for. Although you may be making an additional point unrelated to the rest of your post. You seem to be arguing for a less centralized government that more accurately follows the constitutional framework. More democracy would actually move away from the constitutional framework which is that of a republic, and would have nothing to do with decentralization as the federal government like the state government's is democratically elected.

I don't know about more democracy and less republic, but I agree that freedom is the priceless gem sheltered by our constitution.

Alaska tried legalizing pot and didn't like it. It's now illegal, but still a scourge on our youngsters.

There's a town up in the interior called Tok. I just found out what a tok is last year, but the town was named (I'm told) as a kind of pejorative contraction of a Japanese word or town, quite some time ago.

Alaska communities are either wet, dry, or moist. Moist communities allow private consumption of alcohol, but no bars. Dry communities allow no alcohol at all, at least obstensibly. It is a terrible scourge on the native population, which is unable to metabolize alcohol as well as whites. They pay a heavy price for it.
