In fact, the whole point was that I didn't make any claims.

Your assessment of what in your mind constitutes a valid apology is valid for you.

That doesn't mean everybody else has to accept the same criteria for what they think constitutes a valid apology. Agreed? Or do you think you make the "rules for apologies" that everybody else has to follow?

As I see it, your rules are your rules for yourself, but others may make whatever other rules for themselves they choose to, and may vary those rules whenever and however they choose to. They may sometimes demand a full scale multi paragraph apology with flowers and dinner out, and other times may accept a simple "oops" as sufficient.

And I don't, frankly, see that it's any business of yours dictating to them which they should demand when for themselves.

Do you?
