You apparently care more about a statue or a play in your area then a boat for Laz to use but by what criteria should the art get the money over the boat, or over the government subsidizing a million other things that people see as desirable?

The arts are part of what has prevented us from falling prey to a home-grown Hitler or Stalin, IMO.

Hitler was famous for his support of the arts. It was a great propaganda tool for him.
