You are talking about 3d. It doesn't work that way here. If you "slap" people back here with a verbal riposte, things will either escalate, or they will think you like to play rough. And over and over again you will get in a slapping contest. I think it is partly because there are no "real" consequences here, for most of us. And that is as it should be for an entertainment forum. Obviously you don't want to get slapped every day. But what would it matter if someone insulted you every day? Would it be worth lowering yourself to a level you did not approve of in order to insult them? You aren't going to get them to stop by doing it. You are only going to go on record as being willing to lower your standards because of your pridefulness.

FWIW I always thought you showed more courage by taking some of the stuff that was said about you (I remember some rather tough stuff recently) without getting into the mud, than almost anyone else on SI. Since it was also obvious you were hurt, that makes your stand even more courageous.
