Yes, and as a boring white person, I support it! <g> Actually, I am most in favor of creating good public spaces, which happen to include art....as opposed to just giving money to artists by committee. The Constitution has enough wiggle room for lots of things that aren't spelled out in there. Education isn't in there either. Neither are highways.

You are misinformed. There is a great bending over backwards to fund artists of color, transgendered, etc...so much so that there's a hue and cry in the (mostly white male) Academy that they're being passed over. I understand your libertarian position wrt the arts, but your information about funding is not correct.

You don't see too much gov't funding of rap artists, do you? They don't need it. Good rap artists can do quite well by themselves. It is only very expensive productions with very little public appeal that need it. But even that's not true, really. All classical symphonies that I know of get public funding. Yet classical recordings sell well in music stores. Most have a large collection. Can they not live on the revenues from that? If they people who like an art form are not willing to support it, perhaps it is best for all that they either do without or cough up.
